Does Milo include a push-to-talk option?

While the core value of Milo is exactly that you don’t need to push-to-talk, yes, you can put Milo into push-to-talk mode and the large button on the front face of Milo is intended for this feature.

Is Milo's software updatable? Will backers of this campaign be able to update their Milo software in the future?

Milo will absolutely be software updatable. We will release not only bug fixes but also significant new features via regular software updates and your Milo will continue to get better over time. Yes, all new software features, including long-range-mode, will be made available to all backers of the campaign at no cost and will not require any additional hardware purchases.

Import duties, taxes and charges?

This is a common question from our backers in Europe. We have secured global distribution with fulfillment in all regions. We will fulfill orders in each region from within that region, so backers will not pay any additional import duties, taxes or charges.

If I get a set of 4 or more, can I separate them into different groups?

Yes, with a set of 4 Milos, you can split it into two pairs and use separately, there is no “primary” unit to operate all 4 and any 2 of the 4 can be used independently of the other 2.

How secure is Milo? Are my conversations private?

Milo voice transmissions are encrypted and they are private and can only be heard by members in your group who have grouped their Milos. Unlike traditional walkie-talkies, with Milo you don’t need to press any buttons to find a clear channel.

What is the Milo range?

Milo range is about 2000 feet / 600m between any two Milos for multi-way voice. The range is extended by the MiloNet mesh network if your group spreads out farther. We are adding a Long-Range-Mode and in our testing we are reaching over 1 mile (1.6 km) and this will work well for situations where you are not near your group but still need to keep in contact.

What is the Milo noise canceling like?

Milo has very good wind and background noise suppression - the device integrates six high performance digital microphones & sophisticated audio signal processing in software. This enables everyone in your group to be clearly heard even in windy conditions.

Waterproof - how waterproof is Milo?

Milo is completely waterproof and has an IP67 rating, which means it can be submerged in up to 1 meter (3 ft) of water for a half an hour. We are currently testing greater depths (particularly for surfers who may go much deeper under waves, but for much shorter periods of time) and will report the results as soon as we have them.

Salt water operation - how will Milo perform in salt water?

Milo has very few moving parts, outside of sealed buttons, and like, say, an action camera, we recommend rinsing with fresh water after use in salt water, so with care you will not have any problems. We are putting Milo through thorough thermal/water/vibration/drop and other stress tests. Milo is water-proof (IP67, fully submersible up to 1m for 30 mins).

Warranty - does Milo include a warranty?

Milo comes with a full 2-year warranty. Our manufacturing partner is one of the leading global electronics manufacturers. Each Milo is comprehensively tested before leaving the factory. In the unlikely event that a unit stops working, we will replace the unit at no cost (and without asking you to jump through hoops in the process).

Freezing cold - will Milo work in cold temperatures?

Yes, Milo is tested and will work in freezing cold temperatures, so far down to -16 degrees Celsius / 3 Fahrenheit

Is Milo good for kids?

Children can absolutely use Milo! Peter, founder of Milo, had the idea for Milo while skiing with his kids. Milo is very simple and handsfree and needs no phone, so it’s perfect even for younger kids. It gives you peace of mind when your kids are out of sight.

How close can they be without feedback?

You can bring Milos right next to each other and they will not echo, unlike a traditional walkie-talkie. Milo uses sophisticated software to detect this condition and prevent the annoying echo.

Battery - what kind of battery does Milo use? How long does it take to charge Milo to 100%?

Milo uses a high-quality lithium polymer rechargeable battery. And just like your phone battery, it is fully integrated which allows the Milo design to be completely waterproof. The battery will last a full day on a single charge and will take about 90 minutes to fully charge.

Can I mute Milo?

Yes! You can mute the speaker and you can mute the microphones via the main front button.

Bluetooth or plug-in headphones? Can they be connected to Milo?

Yes, you can pair a bluetooth headset to Milo or plug-in a wired headset.

Interference and frequencies?

Milo operates in the ISM sub-GHz and 2.4 GHz bands. It does not require a license. Milo uses sophisticated channel management and will not interfere with other radio gear like drones. Milo is certified in each country where we are shipping (please see the country list when you check-out).

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
